School History 

1931

Being a faithful believer of Buddhism, Lady Clara Cheng Lin Kok was committed to promote the belief of Dharma and help the humankind. Recognized that women at that period generally lacked access to education, Lady Clara Ho-Tung, as a Buddhist laywoman, invited Venerable Master Aiting (靄亭法師) to help in the establishment of Po Kok Free School in Percival Street in 1931, providing free education for the underprivileged girls. Besides, Po Kok No.2 School and Po Kok Buddhist Academy were set up in Rua Central, Macau and Hoi Wan Lan Yeuk, Castle Peak respectively. In addition, under the auspices of Mr. Tam Woon Tong and financial assistance from Sir Robert Ho-Tung, the current address of Tung Lin Kok Yuen was established, serving as a majestic monastery. Laywoman Lin Kok and Venerable Master Aiting (靄亭法師) monitored and supervised everything, from the overall design to the internal furnishings.

 

1935

Po Kok Free School and Po Kok Buddhist Academy, formerly located in Percival Street and Castle Peak respectively, moved into Ting Lin Kok Yuen one after another upon its completion. Laywoman Lin Kok had a vision in the long run and made a will which entrusted Layman Wong Hok Yan, Layman Chan Ching To and Laywoman Lam Lim Chun with forming a board and selected Laywoman Lam Lim Chun as the successor to the head of Tung Lin Kok Yuen and school principal.

 

1937

During the Second-Sino Japanese War, laywoman Lin Kok had a patriotic pride and instructed the students in the school to sew military uniforms and transported them to the frontline.

 

1938

The founder Laywoman Lin Kok passed away. Laywoman Lam Lim Chun succeeded as the head of Tung Lin Kok Yuen and school principal.

 

1941

Due to the fall of Hong Kong, all activities of Tung Lin Kok Yuen and the school were shut. Also, Po Kok Second Free School in Macau was forced to close. It was a hard time for everyone in Tung Lin Kok Yuen. Fortunately, Laywoman Lam Lim Chun and the members of the board worked hard, and everyone could survive the difficult times.

 

1949

Though the school received subsidies from the government, the board still raised funds to balance the expenditure to relieve the schoolchildren’s burden, which fulfilled the school mission. The board was registered as the legal foundation in accordance with government regulations, and the former board members were re-appointed as the permanent directors.

 

The government intended to take back the land in front of Tung Lin Kok Yuen and listed it as land for sale. With the hard work of Sir Man Kam Lo and his wife, the government allocated the land to Tung Lin Kok Yuen for the permanent use of schooling. Sir Robert Ho-Tung then generously donated HKD$50,000 to transform the area into a school playground.

 

1950

Tung Lin Kok Yuen held a fair to raise funds for building a school building next to the school playground. In the meantime, Sir Man Kam Lo’s wife asked around for donations, and all sectors of the society responded enthusiastically.

 

1951

The new school building was completed, and Madam Grantham presided over the opening ceremony. Students who previously attended classes at Tung Lin Kok Yuen moved into the new school building.

 

Due to the rapid economic development in Hong Kong, Po Kok School that only provided primary courses had difficulty meeting the social needs. The board then decided to expand the school into ‘Po Kok Girls Junior Vocational Secondary School’, with a particular focus on Home Economics and Business Study, which made it easier for the graduates to make a living in society.

 

1954

Ever since the school developed into a vocational secondary school, its academic achievement was excellent, and the numbers of students increased. The campus was inadequate, and the board sought to expand again. It decided to hold a fair to raise funds for the construction of a school building behind the school as the new dormitory for the former resident teachers. The old dormitory became some new classrooms. The new building was completed in the year and was named ‘Lin Kok Memorial Building’ in the 80^th commemoration of Laywoman Lin Kok. Sir Robert Ho-Tung presided over the opening ceremony.

 

1956

A sales fair was held by Tung Lin Kok Yuen to raise funds to celebrate the 25^th anniversary of the school, of which Sir Shiu-Kin Tang helped a lot.

 

The board expanded the school with senior forms and changed its name to ‘Po Kok Girls Vocational Secondary School cum Affiliated Primary School’. At that time, the school was already well-organized, with the primary school during daytime and nighttime, junior secondary 1 to 3 and senior secondary 1. In 1959, there was the first cohort of secondary school graduates.

 

1958

To provide an opportunity for the out-of-school children in the rural with education, Sir Man Kam Lo’s wife spared no effort and set up Po Kok Branch School in Hung Shui Kiu, Yuen Long under the generous donation of the property located in Tan Kwai Tsuen as the school building by Mr. H.W. Tang and Ms. K.Y. Tang. Po Kok Branch School was officially opened in September of the year. Po Kok Branch School was a subsidized co-ed primary school. It is also the first Buddhism primary school in Yuen Long district.

 

1959

Sir Man Kam Lo passed away.

 

1961

Due to the increasing number of classes, there was a shortage of classroom. Sir Man Kam Lo pre-allocated a huge amount of money for the expansion of the school. Sir Man Kam Lo’s wife inherited Sir Man Kam Lo’s last wish and expanded a teaching building named ‘Man Kam Memorial Building’ in a garden in front of Tung Lin Kok Yuen. The opening ceremony was presided over by Sir Robert Black, the former governor of Hong Kong.

 

1963

Head of Tung Lin Kok Yuen Laywoman Lam Lim Chun retired. Venerable Master Kok On (覺岸法師) succeeded as the principal of the secondary and primary school. Venerable Master Mung Seng (愍生法師) became the deputy head of Tung Lin Kok Yuen, helping with the work.

 

Hung Shui Kiu Po Kok Branch School was expanded, and the three-story teaching building was completed and opened in the year.

 

1964

The number of students increased rapidly, and the classrooms were inadequate. In the meantime, it was the 90^th commemoration of the founder Laywoman Lin Kok. Therefore, the board planned to construct some special rooms to commemorate the founders. On 25^th December, Sir Shiu-kin Tang was invited to hold a groundbreaking ceremony, and the construction was completed the following year. The secondary school changed from the old system to a new one.

 

1966

Head of Tung Lin Kok Yuen Laywoman Lam Lim Chun passed away.

 

1967

Chairperson Chan Ching To passed away. General Ho Shai Lai became the chairperson. Venerable Master Kok On (覺岸法師), Venerable Master Mug Seng (愍生法師) and Ms. Ho Min Kwan were hired to be the directors. Venerable Master Mung Seng (愍生法師) became the head of Tung Lin Kok Yuen.

 

1970

Venerable Master Kok Kwong (覺光法師) accompanied the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand to visit our school.

 

1971

The expansion of the covered playground at Hung Shui Kiu Po Kok Branch School was completed. The school development was well-structured.

 

1973

The Buddhism class was registered as a non-profit-making private secondary school and was renamed as Po Kok Buddhism College.

 

1975

The classroom building in the 100^th commemoration of the founder Laywoman Lin Kok was completed, and Sir Shiu-kin Tang presided over the ceremony.

 

The number of secondary one classes increased from two to three and there were 12 classes in total.

 

1983

Venerable Master Kok On (覺岸法師) retired and Ms. Yip Shuk Ping became the principal of Po Kok Secondary School.

 

The board subsidized the purchase of televisions and video recorders, which were installed in the classrooms of both the primary and secondary schools to help teaching.

 

1986

With the continuous development of the secondary school, the number of subjects was increasing, and its courses were getting closer to regular grammar schools. In order to match the status, the school was renamed ‘Po Kok Girls Secondary School’ and the primary school was renamed ‘Po Kok Girls Secondary School Affiliated Primary School’.

 

1987

The board decided to install air conditioners in both primary and secondary schools to improve the learning environment.

 

1990

There were three classes in each form for the secondary one to four. The school implemented the ‘balancing system’. There were 16 classes in total for secondary one to six.

 

1991

On 27^th and 28^th December, the school celebrated its 60^th anniversary and held an open day.

 

1992

Sir Man Kam Lo’s wife passed away.

 

The matriculation courses changed from one-year to two-year. From 1993, there were 17 classes in total for secondary one to seven.

 

1996

The secondary school received a donation of HKD$4,800,000 from Ms. Chan Pui Ngan’s will and set up a ‘Ms. Chan Pui Ngan Scholarship’ to reward the alumni studying in the university who had excellent academic and moral achievement.

 

1998

General Ho Shai Lao passed away.

 

The board allocated HKD$2,000,000 to the secondary school to set up an IT education fund to promote IT teaching. The fund was used to set up a multimedia teaching room, purchase various IT equipment and train teaching staff members to use IT in teaching.

 

The Parent-Teacher Association was set up in secondary school.

 

1999

The secondary school was rated by the Education Bureau as one of the 44 value-added schools in Hong Kong, which showed the school’s excellent performance in teaching.

 

To further improve the teaching environment and curriculum, the board requested relocation of the secondary school from the Education Bureau. A new school building was granted by the Education Bureau. The name of the new secondary school is ‘ Po Kok Secondary School’.

 

2000

Po Kok Secondary School borrowed some places from another school temporarily to start a co-ed secondary one curriculum. There were six classes in total.

 

Ms. Lee Kit Lan become the principal of Po Kok Secondary School.

 

2001

The construction of the school building located at Choi Ming Court, Tseung Kwan O was completed, and Po Kok Secondary School started to operate. The school building was well-equipped and consisted of an eight-story teaching building, a special-room building and a large auditorium. Catering to the relocation plan, Po Kok Girls Secondary School stopped the admission of secondary one student from this year onwards and other students went to Po Kok Secondary School gradually.

 

To celebrate the 70^th anniversary of Tung Lin Kok Yuen’s group of schools, all of its schools organized a celebration party and co-organized a celebration dinner and a joint-school walkathon for fund-raising.

 

2003

Ms. Yip Shuk Ping, principal of Po Kok Girls Secondary School, retired on 1^st September 2003.

 

The relocation procedures were all completed and there were 29 classes from secondary one to secondary seven in Po Kok Secondary School.

 

Ms. Lee Kit Lan retired, and Mr. Au Kin Kwan took over as the principal of Po Kok Secondary School.

 

2007

The school was awarded the ‘Good Practices for Curriculum Design in Technology Education’ by the Education and Manpower Bureau.

 

The school received funding from the Quality Education Fund for ‘Development of Buddhist Life Education Curriculum and School Network Programme.’

 

2009

The school invited Professor Lee Chack-fan, the Director of HKU SPACE, to be the guest of honour in the school annual celebration ceremony.

 

2010

Tung Lin Kok Yuen allocated more than HKD$3,000,000 to set up a multi-purpose auditorium on the fifth floor of the school. On 6^th September, Professor Lee Chack-fan and Mr. Ho Hung-ngai, Robert Director of Tung Lin Kok Yuen hosted the opening ceremony.

 

The school received funding from the Quality Education Fund to set up a ‘Distance Learning Classroom’ to enhance online learning with other schools.

 

2011

The school invited Professor Tsui Lap-chee, the president of the University of Hong Kong, to be the guest of honour in the school annual celebration ceremony.

 

2012

To celebrate the 80^th anniversary of Tung Lin Kok Yuen’s group of schools, Tung Lin Kok Yuen and the University of Hong Kong held a series of lectures on ‘Does inability constitute the very virtue of a woman?’ which commemorated the founder laywoman Cheng Lin Kok’s contribution to girls’ education and feminism in Hong Kong. The school invited Ms. Lee Kit Lan, former school principal, and Mr. Hui Yat-chuen, school supervisor, to be the guest speakers.

 

2013

Three students from Amitofo Care Centre in the Republic of Malawi visited our school.

 

The Hong Kong Buddha Bathing Ceremony (Sai Kung and Tseung Kwan O district) was held in the school hall. The ceremony was presented Venerable Master Tsang Chit (僧徹法師), head of Tung Lin Kok Yuen and Professor Lee Chack-fan, the Director of HKU SPACE

 

The gym room with treadmill, exercise bike, indoor rowing machine and TRX was completed.

 

Students from Banksia Park International High School in Australia visited our school.

 

2014/2015

There were 26 classes in total from secondary one to six.

 

Mr. Au Kin Kwan retired, and Ms. Chan Shuk Man took over as the school principal.

 

The school received funding from the Quality Education Fund to develop ‘Photo Zen’.

 

The school set up the ‘Venerable Master Tin Man Award Scheme’ (天文法師獎勵計劃) to reward students who are eager to learn about Buddhism and serve the community.

 

Venerable Master Tsang Chit (僧徹法師), head of Tung Lin Kok Yuen set up the ‘Sprinkling of Dharma Athletes Scholarship’ (法雨遍灑運動員獎學金) to promote sports development in Po Kok Secondary School.

 

The school started the ‘Venerable Master Stationing Programme’. It was hosted by Venerable Master Chi Peng (智平法師) and Venerable Master Chi Yung (智勇法師).

 

On 17^th April, a Tseung Kwan O Joint School Concert was held with G.T. (Ellen Yeung) College, The HKCCC Union Logos Academy and Creativity School Secondary School in G.T. (Ellen Yeung) College. The school sent out the vocal classes and chamber orchestras to perform.

 

C.C. Wu Cultural & Education Foundation Fund sponsored ‘Po Kok Secondary School Earth Art Volunteer Programme’. Four secondary six students went to Niigata City, Japan, for an art creation project from 18^th May to 9^th June. Also, 20 secondary three to five students went to Japan for art and cultural exchange and volunteer programme.

 

Three researchers from Aoyama University in Japan visited our school from 28^th to 30^th May to conduct interviews and videos to prepare for the exchange with Matsunomori School during the Earth Art Festival and held a VITAHAPI workshop for students.

 

Mr. Chuah Yah Chou and Madam Chan Be Chu, principals of Phor Tay High School and Mr. Lye Voon Seong, principal of Phor Tay Private High School visited our school on 8^th and 9^th June and exchanged ideas about education in Hong Kong and Malaysia. A memorandum of understanding was signed.

 

The Tung Lin Kok Yuen Joint Graduation and Award Ceremony for Affiliated Schools was held on 6^th July 2015. The ceremony was presented by Dr Chiu Chi Shing, Executive Director of QSIP.

 

With the grant from Tung Lin Kok Yuen, an Australian English study tour was held from 11^th to 26^th August. A total of 15 students participated.

 

With the grant from Tung Lin Kok Yuen, a basketball training camp was held in Taiwan from 16^th to 20^th August. A total of 22 students participated.

 

The boys’ A and B grade basketball team won the champion and first runner up of Inter-School Basketball Competition Division One (Kowloon) respectively. The boys’ basketball team also won the overall third runner up. The girls’ A and B grade basketball team won the first runner up and second runner up of Inter-School Basketball Competition Division One (Kowloon) respectively. The girls’ basketball team also won the first runner up of the Jing Ying Basketball and Hong Kong Inter-School Basketball Marathon Competition.

 

2015/2016

There were 25 classes in total from secondary one to six.

 

The school joined the WIFI900 plan of the Education Bureau and was granted to construct a WIFI network and purchase tablets.

 

The school was approved of the ‘School Sports Promotion Coordinator’ programme (a three-year period) to hire a retired athlete to promote sports culture on the campus.

 

The school received funding from the Community Care Fund to implement the ‘Special Educational Needs Coordinator’ pilot scheme (a three-year period) and hired a teacher to coordinate the special educational needs in the school.

 

Alumni Wong Chuk Ping set up the ‘Huanghua Dream Realizing Fund’ (鴻華夢想飛翔基金) to provide financial assistance to students with outstanding performance in all aspects, so that students can practice their ideal or personal plans.

 

The ‘Venerable Master Stationing Programme’ was hosted by Venerable Master Guo Yu (果如法師) and Venerable Master Wai Tung (惠通法師).

 

The school participated in ‘Land of Plenty’ organized by C. C. Wu Cultural & Education Foundation Fund.

 

On 14^th November 2015, the launching ceremony of the Alumni Green Wall was held.

 

Six teachers and students from Banksia Park International High School in Australia visited our school from 9^th to 20^th December 2014.

 

On 1^st December 2015, Director of Tung Lin Kok Yuen Mr. Robert Ho Hung Ngai and his wife visited our school.

 

On 29^th January 2016, a Poon Choi Feast in celebration of the 84^th anniversary was held.

 

The school participated in the ‘Pupil Ambassador Scheme’ organized by the Education Bureau.

 

With the grant from Tung Lin Kok Yuen, 20 students participated in the Beijing and Tianjin study tour organized by the Chinese department from 30^th June to 7^th July.

 

The Tung Lin Kok Yuen Joint Graduation and Award Ceremony for Affiliated Schools was held on 4^th July 2016. The ceremony was presented by Dr. Cheung Ping-Kwan, Director of the Hong Kong Art School.

 

30 students participated in the Korean cultural exploration tour organized by the Tourism and Hospitality department from 13^th to 17^th July.

 

2016/2017

There were 24 classes in total from secondary one to six.

 

The ‘Venerable Master Stationing Programme’ was hosted by Venerable Master Guo Yu (果如法師) and Venerable Master Wai Tung (惠通法師).

 

The school participated in CLAP for Youth @JC (Networking school) for a three-year period.

 

The school participated in a University – School Support Programme, QSIP – A Whole School Approach to implementing Self-Directed Learning as a Strategy to Care for Learner Diversity.

 

The school participated in the Secondary School-Based Curriculum Development Support Service – Personal, Social and Humanities Education.

 

The school participated in the open classes of Joint-School Self-Regulated Learning organized by the Hong Kong Association of Heads of Secondary Schools.

 

The school was approved of the secondary school students mainland exchange funding programme to organize a study tour on ‘Environmental Protection Facilities and Water Conservancy Construction’ in Huizhou and Heyuan.

 

On 8^th November, 30 teachers and students from Changkat Changi Secondary School in Singapore visited our school.

 

The school became the training center for the East Kowloon Indoor Rowing Training Class of the Hong Kong China Rowing Association.

 

The school became the regional training base of the Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol (Secondary and Primary teams).

 

The school participated in ‘Land of Plenty’ organized by C. C. Wu Cultural & Education Foundation Fund.

 

On 21^st December 2016, the 85th Anniversary Celebration and Opening Ceremony of Po Kok Elderly Academy was held. The school invited Dr. Edward Leong Che-hung, the Chairperson of Committee on Elder Academy Development Foundation of Elderly Commission and Ms. Ho Yee-wing, Elderly Services Manager of Po Leung Kuk.

 

On 11^th January 2017, 30 students from Amitofo Care Centre in the Republic of Malawi visited our school.

 

On 20^th January 2017, a Poon Choi Feast in celebration of the 85^th anniversary was held.  

 

On 17^th March 2017, the Opening Ceremony of the 85^th Anniversary Open Day of Po Kok Secondary School was held. The school invited Dora Wu, the chairperson of C. C. Wu Cultural & Education Foundation Fund, to be the officiating guests.

 

The boys’ basketball team went training in Taiwan and conducted training and friendly matches with a strong local team, Taishan Senior High School from 19^th to 22^nd April 2017.

 

On 27^th April, The Hong Kong Buddhist Society celebrated the 2561^st (Buddhist Calendar) Birthday of Buddha cum 20^th anniversary of the establishment of Hong Kong auspicious assembly and the Buddha Bathing Ceremony (Sai Kung and Tseung Kwan O district). The ceremony was presented by Mr. Ng Sze-fuk, George, GBS, JP, the chairperson of Sai Kung District Council. Venerable Master Tsang Chit (僧徹法師), head of Tung Lin Kok Yuen and Venerable Master Guo Wai (果慧法師) were invited to be the officiating Venerable Masters.  

 

‘Taiwan Religious Cultural Experience Tour’ was organized by the Dharma promotion department from 29^th June to 2^nd July 2017.

 

On 6^th July 2017, the Tung Lin Kok Yuen Joint Graduation and Award Ceremony for Affiliated Schools was held. The ceremony was presented by Dr. Siu Shing Chung, consultant of in-patient and rehabilitation services department of Tung Wah Eastern Hospital.

 

10 students went to Adelaide, Australia to participate in an English study tour from 9^th to 25^th August 2017. The cost was fully funded by Tung Lin Kok Yuen.

 

The girls’ basketball team went training in Japan and conducted joint training and friendly matches with Nara Prefectural Kashihara High School, Uda City Municipal Haibara Junior School High School, and Minami Junior High School from 25^th to 29^th August 2017.

 

The Ho Multi-Purpose Education Centre (The HoME Centre), the Ho Physical Education Centre (The HoPE Centre), the fish and vegetable symbiosis system, and the main building on the fifth floor to the shelter of the auditorium were donated by the School Director Mr. Robert Ho Yau Chung.

 

2017/2018

There were 24 classes in total from secondary one to six.

 

The ‘Venerable Master Stationing Programme’ was hosted by Venerable Master Wai Tung (惠通法師).

 

The school participated in the open classes of Joint-School Self-Regulated Learning organized by the Hong Kong Association of Heads of Secondary Schools.

 

The school was funded by the Education Bureau with the Mainland Exchange Programme for Secondary Students to organize the ‘Guilin’s Natural and Humanity Landscape and Environmental Conservation Tour’.

 

On 24^th October 2017, the Quality Assurance Section of the Education Bureau came to our school and filmed Miss Lau Ah King’s Mathematics class with secondary two students which served as the internal training for the Education Bureau.

 

On 8^th November 2017, 28 teachers and students from Changkat Changi Secondary School in Singapore visited our school.

 

Our principal and nine teachers participated in the Taiwan Education Exchange Group of Teachers of Tung Lin Kok Yuen Affiliated Schools from 15^th to 18^th November 2017.

 

Six students participated in the chanting performance of the ‘Buddhist Chants in Scent and Light’ in the Grand Theatre of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre organized by ZUNI on 1^st and 2^nd December 2017.

 

The Macao Physical Education Teachers Exchange Group visited our school and our teachers shared on how to use the school-based resources effectively and nurture students’ physical fitness on 11^th December 2017.

 

30 students from Amitofo Care Centre in the Republic of Malawi visited our school on 9^th January 2018.

 

Mr. Cheung Fai Shing (teacher in Taipei Municipal Zhongshan Girls High School) and Mr. Lo Sheng Chi (teacher in National Taitung Senior High School) observed lessons in our school and discussed the ideas about self-directed learning in Hong Kong and Taiwan on 1^st February 2018.

 

A Poon Choi Feast of around 60 tables in celebration of the 86^th anniversary was held on 9^th February 2018.

 

The exhibition of ‘Visual arts and photographic Zen works of students in Po Kok Secondary School’ was held at the Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery on 12^th April to 9^th May 2018. The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Lee Chack-fan.

 

A visual education programme was co-organized with Lions Clubs International District 303 – Hong Kong & Macao, China, The Hong Kong Society for the Blind, Fu Hong Society, etc. on 20^th April 2018.

 

The closing ceremony of Po Kok Elderly Academy was held on 20^th April 2018. The closing ceremony was presented by Dora Wu, the chairperson of C. C. Wu Cultural & Education Foundation Fund.

 

With the grant from Tung Lin Kok Yuen, 20 students participated in the Taiwan Men’s Basketball Training Camp from 22^nd to 25^th June 2018.

 

Ten students participated in a five-day study tour in Inner Mongolia organized by the Chinese History department from 25^th to 29^th June 2018.

 

Tung Lin Kok Yuen Joint Graduation and Award Ceremony for Affiliated Schools was held on 5^th July 2018. It was presented by Secretary of Education, Mr. Kevin Yeung Yun-hung, JP.

 

With the grant from Tung Lin Kok Yuen, 40 students participated in a five-day study tour in Shandong organized by the Chinese department from 16^th to 20^th July 2018.

 

With the sponsor by C.C. Wu Cultural & Education Foundation Fund, ten students participated in the Earth Art Volunteer Programme in Japan from 18^th July to 3^rd August 2018.

 

With the grant from Tung Lin Kok Yuen, 18 students participated in the Taiwan Women’s Basketball Training Camp from 28^th to 31^st July 2018.

 

2018/2019

There were 24 classes in total from secondary one to six.

 

The ‘Venerable Master Stationing Programme’ was hosted by Venerable Master Wai Tung (惠通法師).

 

The school participated in the open classes of Joint-School Self-Regulated Learning organized by the Hong Kong Association of Heads of Secondary Schools.

 

The school was rewarded by the Caring School Award by the Hong Kong Christian Service for the Caring School Award 2018.

 

All secondary one students participated in the Civil Aid Service.

 

The school received funding from the Quality Education Fund for ‘Caring Students’ Body, Mindfulness and Spirit, a senior secondary meditation course’ (programme code: 2017/1127).

 

Students from Baoji Youth’s palace visited our school on 2^nd October 2018.

 

A memorandum of understanding was signed with Yun Gang Middle School Affiliated to CNU on 30^th October 2018.

 

The principal, teachers and students of Phor Tay High School from Malaysia visited our school on 5^th November 2018.

 

The teachers and students of Changkat Changi Secondary School from Singapore visited our school on 7^th November 2018.

 

The boys’ and girls’ basketball team won the champion and first runner up of Inter-School Basketball Competition Division One (Kowloon) on 16^th November 2018 respectively.

 

The school was funded by the Education Bureau with the Mainland Exchange Programme for Secondary School Students to organize the ‘Zhangjiajie Geological and Environmental Conservation Tour’ from 28^th November to 1^st December 2018.

 

‘Shaoguan Religious and Culture Experience Tour’ was held from 28^th November to 1^st December 2018.

 

‘Guangzhou, Dongguan History and Culture Discovery and Exploration Tour’ was held from 30^th November to 1^st December 2018.

 

A memorandum of understanding was signed with Guang Ming High School on 4^th December 2018.

 

Six students from Amitofo Care Centre in the Kingdom of Lesotho visited our school.

 

A Poon Choi Feast of 73 tables in celebration of the 87^th anniversary was held on 25^th January 2019.

 

The boys’ basketball team won the second runner up in the ‘Jing Ying Basketball’ on 27^th January 2019.

 

Teachers and students from The No.3 High School of Shizaishan visited our school on 28^th January 2019.

 

A memorandum of understanding was signed with Guiyang No.17 Middle School.

 

The school choir participated in the ‘Happiness Together Music Concert’ (皆大歡喜音樂會) in the Hong Kong Jockey Club Amphitheatre organized by Tung Lin Kok Yuen on 19^th April 2019.

 

The boys’ basketball team visited our sister school Guang Ming High School from 22^nd to 24^th April 2019.

 

The school participated in the Buddha’s Birthday Carnival organized by Tung Lin Kok Yuen on 12^th May 2019.

 

The African Drum Team participated in the music concert in the Hong Kong Jockey Club Amphitheatre organized by the Lions Club of Hong Kong Citizens on 19^th May 2019.

 

With the grant from Tung Lin Kok Yuen, the boys’ basketball team training camp was held in Taiwan from 21^st to 24^th June 2019.

 

The school participated in the ‘Hangzhou and Ningbo Study Tour’ organized by the New Territories School Heads Association from 27^th June to 3^rd July 2019.

 

The Tung Lin Kok Yuen Joint Graduation and Award Ceremony for Affiliated Schools was held on 4^th July 2019. The ceremony was presented by Dr. Stephen Cheung, the Director of the Graduate Education Centre of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.  

 

The boys’ basketball team won the first runner up in the Hong Kong Inter-School Basketball Marathon Competition on 7^th July 2019.

 

The school participated in the ‘Sichuan Sports and Ecological Study Tour for Hong Kong Secondary School’ organized by the New Territories School Heads Association from 5^th to 9^th August 2019.

 

The English study tour in Adelaide, Australia was held from 16^th to 31^st August 2019. The cost was fully funded by Tung Lin Kok Yuen.

 

With the grant from Tung Lin Kok Yuen, the Taiwan Women’s Basketball Training Camp was held from 24^th to 27^th August 2019.

 

2019/2020

There were 24 classes in total from secondary one to six.

 

The ‘Venerable Master Stationing Programme’ was hosted by Venerable Master Wai Tung (惠通法師).

 

The school participated in the open classes of Joint-School Self-Regulated Learning organized by the Hong Kong Association of Heads of Secondary Schools.

 

The Chinese and Mathematics departments participated in the Joint-School Self-Regulated Learning 1+1 SRL 3.0 Co-planning Programme organized by the Hong Kong Association of Heads of Secondary Schools.

 

The English department participated in the ‘Enhancing writing through 3C-based activities self-regulation strategies and e-learning tools’ organized by the Quality School Improvement Project (QSIP) 19/20.

 

The Physical Education department participated in the Networking Schools Research Projects of the Physical Education (Learning Community) of the HKDSE.

 

The school received funding from the Quality Education Fund for the ‘Science Kitchen of S3 STEM programmer’ (code number 2018/1516) and ‘Historical treasures in Po Kok – curriculum design of history and construction of the school history room(歷史『寶中』尋─歷史課程設計與校史室建設).’ (code number: 2019/0127)

 

All secondary one students participated in the Civil Aids Service.

 

The school participated in the ‘Drums in Move Drumming in Practice Project’ under the School Performing Arts in Practice Scheme 2020/2021

 

The school participated in the Dough Figurine Crafting Technique of the Jockey Club ICH+ Innovative Heritage Education Programme.

 

The school was rewarded by the Caring School Award by the Hong Kong Christian Service for the Caring School Award 2019.

 

The school won the overall championship in the 1^st Hong Kong Inter-school Karatedo Tournament 2019 (secondary school category).

 

During the COVID-19 class suspension, lessons and activities were carried out through online lessons. Moreover, the school launched three programmes, namely the Self-Regulated Learning Morning Assignment, 14-day Self-Regulated Learning Challenge, and Homework Award Scheme.

 

The school received a subsidy from the Education Bureau to the senior secondary students exchange programme to organize the ‘Guizhou Ecology and Technology Exploration and Exchange Tour’ and exchange ideas with our sister school Guiyang No.17 Middle School from 13^th to 17^th November 2019.

 

Our students’ works of the ‘Photo Zen’ were exhibited in the Community Arts Galleries in Tiu Keng Leng station from 1^st to 31^st December 2019.

 

The school celebrated its 88^th anniversary on 20^th December 2019.

 

The girls’ basketball team won the first runner-up of the Inter-school Basketball Competition Division One (Kowloon) on 15^th January 2020.

 

The boys’ basketball team won the first runner-up of the Inter-school Basketball Competition Division One (Kowloon) on 17^th January 2020.

 

A Poon Choi Feast of 71 tables in celebration of the 88^th anniversary was held on 17^th January 2020.

 

The Graduation Ceremony was presided over by Dr. Wong Tsz Hin, the Assistant Professor of the Faculty of Social Science of UOW College Hong Kong on 10^th July 2020.
